光明中学地处上海市中心，是一所历史悠久、传统优良的百年名校。学校由法国人创建于1886年，曾用名为“法文书馆”、“中法学堂”。1951年改名为“光明中学”，目前是上海市实验性示范性高级中学。
光明中学是上海市一期和二期课改基地、上海市教师专业发展学校暨见习教师培训基地，曾荣获全国篮球特色学校、全国书法教育实验学校、全国环境教育特色学校、上海市科技特色示范学校、上海市首批艺术特色学校、上海市华文教育基地、上海市首批沪港澳青少年教育实习基地、中华优秀传统文化教研基地示范单位等诸多荣誉。
学校地处上海市中心，现任校长是上海市特级教师穆晓炯，现有教职工约110人，中、高级教师占80%，学校拥有一个师德高尚、敬业爱生、业务精良的教师群体。

光明中学的英法双外语教学颇有特色，师资力量雄厚。学校是中法两国政府首批教育合作项目学校、是中国第一所被法国政府授予“法语教育标志”认证的中学。学校与法国的精英工程师大学合作，开设“未来工程师”课程班，以法语为第一外语，英语为第二外语。学校还在英语、理科（科学技术）、国学（传统文化）、体育（篮球）、艺术（舞蹈管乐）等多个项目中取得显著成效。

SHANGHAI GUANGMING HIGH SCHOOL
Shanghai Guangming High School, located in Huangpu District, is a renowned, century-old school with strong traditions. It was established by the French in 1886. Known first as “Zhongfa Xue Tang”, then as “Zhongfa School,” it was finally renamed “Guangming High School” in 1951. It is now a model “demonstrative” high school – a key high school in Shanghai.
The current principal of the school is Mr. Mu Xiaojiong, a Special Grade teacher. There are approximately 110 in-service staff, 80% of whom are senior teachers. The school prides itself in the commitment and experience of its teachers, who have achieved prominence in education and instruction.
Under the background of inheriting a hundred years of cultural accumulation, combining the essence of Chinese and Western culture, and promoting development with times, Guangming aims to build a school with a strong humanistic spirit and to train students with a high degree of humanity, and fully implements the quality-oriented education with moral education as its core, innovation spirit and practical abilities as highlight. Guangming High School features bilingual teaching and excellent bilingual teachers. It is one of eleven Sino-French cooperative project schools (only two in Shanghai) and the first school in China to be granted "French-language education mark" by the French government. The school collaborates with the university of Elite Engineers in France, and sets French as first language, English second. Guangming High School also excels in English, Science, Chinese, PE, and Arts.
In addition, the school has established friendly relationships, including visits, exchanges, and frequent communications, with high schools in France, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
